Summary

As Siemens evolves from an industrial pioneer into a digital and software-driven powerhouse, its talent acquisition strategy evolves in parallel. For more than a decade, Siemens has partnered with Avature to build a unified, global talent ecosystem, connecting technology, people and opportunity through innovation and agility.

We have been using Avature for around 11 years. This was an evolving landscape. We use CRM, event check-in, pre-boarding, video interviewing—you name it.”

What began as an effort to replace fragmented local systems has become a cornerstone of Siemens’ digital HR transformation, enabling a consistent global experience for both candidates and recruiters.

The Challenge: Unifying a Fragmented Landscape

Before its digital transformation, Siemens’ talent acquisition technology reflected its vast structure: diverse business units, multiple local tools and little global alignment. Recruiters and candidates faced inconsistent experiences, duplicated effort and limited data visibility.

At the same time, Siemens was redefining itself, evolving from an industrial leader into a technology company striving to shape the digital future. Its talent systems needed to mirror that shift and also become more flexible, data-driven and globally connected.

Some of the challenges that we had were around a more fragmented experience for our candidates and our recruiters due to the different solutions that we had globally. With Avature, we were able to unify that into a single platform.”

To overcome these challenges, the company did not look for a vendor. Instead, it searched for a partner that could evolve alongside its business and simplify complexity through a single, scalable ecosystem.

The Solution: Co-Creation That Drives Continuous Transformation

When Siemens and Avature began working together in 2014, the relationship quickly evolved beyond a partnership—it became a co-creation model where each new business need, regulatory requirement or market challenge turns into a shared innovation opportunity.

Starting with the Employee Referral Portal, Siemens and Avature progressively added new layers of functionality:

  • 2016: Candidate Relationship Management (CRM)
  • 2017: Student and Graduate Programs
  • 2018–2019: Global ATS rollout and U.S./Canada enhancements, which made Avature the first truly global HR technology in Siemens’ portfolio
  • 2020–2021: Cloud-based access, video interviewing and localized solutions such as the WeChat integration for China
  • 2022–2025: Introduction of AI in recruitment and the launch of the new global Career Marketplace

The common thread has been co-creation. As we matured our strategy, Avature was always enabling us with more functionalities that we could use and to keep us on track with our strategy.”

Avature’s flexibility has allowed Siemens to align technology with its broader business strategic shift toward digitalization and software. Together, the teams have built a scalable, secure and data-driven ecosystem capable of supporting approximately 15,000 candidate interviews per year with the aid of automation, while also empowering recruiters to deliver personalized, high-quality interactions.

As our strategy shifted, Avature, with its flexibility, allowed us to keep on the edge of what we needed to do—helping us turn strategy into tech, which we could use to communicate with our candidates.”

The latest milestone in the collaboration has been the introduction of artificial intelligence. Through Avature Copilot, Siemens’ recruiters gain access to generative AI capabilities that automate routine tasks, such as writing job descriptions and candidate outreach emails, without losing the human touch.

Meanwhile, the organization’s new global Career Marketplace has become a showcase of what the partnership can achieve: a fully branded, AI-powered candidate portal built in just seven months that provides intuitive navigation, personalized job recommendations and a consistent global user experience.

Before we redid our candidate portal, the user experience was not as strong. We were able to correct that with stronger branding, a smoother experience and AI recommendations that candidates resonate more with.”

The Results: A Living Ecosystem for Global Talent

Today, Siemens’ talent technology landscape looks nothing like it did a decade ago. What began as a unification project has evolved into a dynamic platform that powers global agility and continuous innovation.

Together with Avature, Siemens has:

  • Standardized recruitment processes across 140 countries
  • Delivered an AI-powered global Career Marketplace in just seven months
  • Enabled recruiters to conduct ~15,000 interviews annually
  • Introduced Avature Copilot to simplify communications and personalize candidate engagement

But the real outcome goes beyond technology. Siemens now operates a co-created ecosystem that evolves with every business need, helping keep the company at the forefront of digital talent acquisition.
